Eat or Smoke Marijuana: Is there a Difference?

Some people prefer to smoke weed while others prefer to munch on them. You might think that there’s no difference because after all, it’s just the same weed. Well, you’re wrong. Below are perfectly plausible and scientific reasons why the two methods aren’t the same. So the next time you sit down for a dose of cannabis, explore your options:

Eating is healthier than smoking

Arguably, this is one benefit of infusing food with cannabis over smoking a blunt. Some just aren’t fans of smoking. In fact, people have been coming up with creative ways to eat cannabis like putting it in pizza or a salad. Some people even claim that edibles provide a longer lasting effect against some symptoms.

Good things come to those who wait

Naturally, a fresh batch of homemade brownies is very tempting. More so if they’re infused with your favorite strain of marijuana. However, you need to be careful not to eat too much all at once as edibles tend to have a delayed effect. It’s best to wait for the cannabis to kick in—about 30 minutes or more—before you put another slice in your mouth.

Which one gives the strongest kick?

Edibles have a stronger kick compared to traditional inhaling of cannabis, but edibles deliver a smaller amount of cannabinoids (only 10 to 20 percent) to the bloodstream. When marijuana is ingested, the THC in it is broken down and converted to 11-hydroxy-THC which creates a much stronger high.
