Medical marijuana has proven its usefulness to people
suffering from painful conditions, but many assume that smoking the weed is the
only way to benefit from it—definitely untrue. There are several ways patients
could gain the benefits without lighting up.
Here are some examples:
- Marijuana Vaporizers. Just like a normal steam vaporizer, a marijuana vaporizer slowly
heats up the cannabis. Combined
with water, this creates a vapor that can fill up a room. Patients can
inhale the vapor, producing the same effects as smoking a joint, but
without the harmful effects associated with smoking or smoke inhalation.
- Marijuana Edibles. Medical marijuana can also be eaten. When
mixed with brownies and other baked goods, its effects become stronger and
last longer. Remember, though, that you can’t eat them all in one go; pace
yourself. Be careful to monitor how much you eat; it’s easy to over-consume
and end up with other side effects, if any.
- Marijuana Topicals. Arthritis and joint pain can be directly
treated by topical creams. Marijuana used this way does not have the same
psychoactive effects, but is a great analgesic and anti-inflammatory. Just
rub the cream on the affected area to have it do its magic.
- Marijuana Tea. Since eating marijuana is possible, you can drink it, too. Cannabis leaves steeped in hot water dissolve the THC in the water. This results in tea that has the same effect as a whole joint.
